Today I have re-visited every one of my own blog posts in a fruitless search for an image of our kitchen, pre-plastering. I was hoping for a visual reminder of the exact location of a big ceiling beam before drilling holes in the ceiling for downlights! This time wasting experience has provided me with three revelations:

1. When building, take some snaps pre-plaster for later reference if required.

2. Preferably store pics somewhere you can find them. (Having experienced this dilema before) LOL

3. I realy enjoyed re-visiting my own inspiration past posts. (eeek!) To me, they illustrate how my design direction has morphed and somewhat matured. They also help me identify 'my' aesthetic through repetition whilst highlighting when I am temporarily 'swayed' by a fad / trend. Interesting. (To me. Ba ha ha)

Sooo...having found zipp in regards to the hidden beam, here's a fave design project that's been around the traps for awhile but one I'd like to include here for my own aforementioned benefit!

Fabric as art

I spotted this gorgeous home, situated in Finland, over on STYLIZMO today.

It jogged my memory regarding my intention to frame some Marimekko fabric as cost-effective art.

The panel seen above is Moments - Hetkia. 

I purchased mine online a few years ago from Nordic Fusion.
 Below are a few more examples of how this substantial fabric panel has been used as art:

I've also bought a panel of Focus - Black which I think I'll use as cushions. Possibly. Maybe.

I've always loved Marimekko designs. Above, bottom left, is an artwork I painted using left-over paint based on their Unikko design for my daughter's bedroom in our last house.

Of course these are just examples from Marimeeko. Any beautiful fabric, framed simply can look stunning. And be cost-effective to boot! Clever.

Inspiration

 Because La Hacienda is being built at such a  s l o w  pace, I often find myself referring back to images which were inspiring enough to save; Pinterest, Google, magazines, interior decor books, designer websites and favourite blogs have provided thousands!

They keep me on-track and confirm my chosen design direction when I'm in doubt.

But, rarely do I find a home that just screams 'me' in totality.

THIS one came close. 

And there are elements HERE  that have my name all over them whilst

Frederic Berthier, Joseph Dirand and BKH are designer's whose work I find inspiring in the same aesthetic vein.

However ...

This recently spied home's interior is, to moi,

A favourite designer.......

I always love seeing new work from a favourite designer, in this case Sharleen Joel. (I mentioned her work before HERE) In this month's edition of Inside Out Magazine her own family weekender is featured. It showcases all the elements she is so well known for; understated materials, incredible detail and seemingly, effortless chic.
