October wish list

With the house progress gaining momentum after being so slow for a few years, I've found myself in a decorating hiatus.
Unpacking previously bought treasures has reminded me that we have enough.
And, until I find the spot for some items, I cannot foresee where any gaps might be.
Everything continuing is now hinged on the two kitchens being completed in order to put things away, live functionally (on at least one level) and clear some space to put everything in place.
I'm even offering freebies on my local Trading Post to clear excess!

Our joiner has promised the additional 'bits' that were missing from the first fit-out will be delivered and installed next week, so I'm crossing my fingers and toes that my patience will be rewarded!

In the meantime, without a lot to do (there's no point cleaning the copious dust until it literally settles) I've wasted time occupied myself trawling the net to explore the latest offerings.

1. Still a favourite online store; Harold's. Love these crisp, sophisticated cushions.
 2. Muuto Dots. Perfect in every way.
 3. Cristina Re Mugs. Love the variety of mix 'n match patterns.
4. Nice dimensioned armchairs are hard to find. Love the Hudson from Orson & Blake.
5.  Out of my stratosphere $ wise, this Garden Life planter is a stunner!

Just dreaming ATM!

The grass is always greener....

...when it's F A U X !

My last post detailed where I'm planning to place a small area of Artificial lawn.
This product has come a long way since first developed as ChemGrass in 1965 and marketed as Astro Turf a year later!

Although short napped versions are still used, as originally intended, to provide easily maintained indoor sport's fields, today's options include longer lengths which are visually more appealing to the domestic market. They are softer, more natural looking and are a great alternative for areas where natural grass is difficult to either grow or maintain.

I met with a local Artificial Grass supplier today and chose ours:

It's a longer napped brand and feels very soft and dense.
We chose to go this route for several reasons:
  • It was more cost effective than the travertine tiles thus lowering the overall deck cost outlay
  • Visually broke up and softened this very large expanse of hard flooring;
  • I'll get allot of 'green' without multiple weighty pots
  • No maintenance!
The only negative is the heat. Being 'plastic' it will get hot underfoot. But, no hotter than the travertine tiles. Aesthetically, it will look cooler....

Anywho, with an acceptable quote expected tomorrow and, with some sunshine predicted for next week, this will be another tick we can make, signialling our getting closer to completing SeaSpray #2!

Here are some of my favourite inspiration pics from my Pinterest boards which I've pulled out many, many times in order to finally convince David, that this was a good idea!....

Looking forward to the 'green' light on this one!
*cough!*

My week...

H e l l o ! ! !

It's been a busy week here with lots of different stuff going on.

I've decided to start a de-clutter, commencing with my wardrobe. Why?
Because I have have not come to terms with never being a size 6 or 8 again! *sob*
(Still holding out hope for a 10 or 12 though! LOL!)

I found this brand new Oroton bag in the back of my cupboard! Eeeek! Took it for an outing to Grand Designs on Sunday but I now like a longer strap to keep my hands free so onto eBay it went. Click HERE if you're interested!

Love this little Jonathan Adler tray in silver (and the gold version too). Wishing someone in Oz would stock it so I can avoid those exy US shipping charges.

The lovely people at Rolling Stone Landscapes have given me the faux lawn supplier's deets! Yay!

I was thrilled to receive my recently ordered West Elm cutlery after THIS fiasco. Um....x 2!
1800 # assistance quick to apologise and easy to to get on to, but after three lengthy conversations, still no promised return authorisation docs. Apparently I wasn't charged for the $600+ of merchandise (they were very grateful I rang!)... hopefully they can survive these teething problems and don't scoot back to the US prematurely!

Darling daughter # 1, S purchased a new laptop. Oh My! Techno loaded and pretty too at < $1K!
The BF's parents have returned from OS bearing gifts....too funny!

And oops! I wrote a little one where a zero should've been on the custom shaving cabinet drawings.
A half hour installation turned into a four hour re-make, then install. Lucky he loves me!
Needless to say the vanity waits for another day. Thank God the other crucial deets were correct.
When glazed, the cabinetry will sit perfectly flush with the walls. Whew!

Oh, and although this isn't my pic above, Mum & bub whales gave my girlfriend J and I a very similar show at brecky! Love living in paradise!!!!

Bits & Bobs

You know Spring is definitely here when she can bring forth such beautiful blooms from neglected winter gardens. We don't have any gardens yet.... the house is still perched on a building site but this Australian Native Rock Orchid has given us a beautiful display after being unceremoniously dumped on site. And these orchids below were also hiding in a pile of weeds. Amazing!

We went to the State Theatre in Sydney last night to see comedian, musician and wonderful entertainer, Bill Bailey. A terrifc show and great Father's Day present for David. Our first nest-leavers and daughter No. 2 came as well which was perfect. Check out the chandy! Gob-smackingly gorgeous!

We are enjoying some perfect Spring weather here...
Hope you are too!

Spring has Sprung! Outdoor room inspiration

Well, here on the Central Coast of New South Wales in Australia, springtime has finally made it's welcome return. After several glorious days my attention has turned to the unfinished outdoor areas of our home. We have a half built pool and our patio areas are more construction zones than entertaining oases! Still, I have great plans and thought I'd share some of my favourite outdoor room inspiration photographs.

As usual, it's a pretty eclectic mix of images. In some I like the atmosphere or seating. Others inspire with the clever use of space or colour. My interpretation will use the best of these; muted colourway, candles and subtle lighting for night time ambiance, comfortable seating to take advantage of the views and lush greenery to soften and'cool' the room. And looking at my own favourites has made me realise that shade and privacy are highly desired features too. Just add a well stocked wine fridge and good company of course!!! Ah, bliss.
