The Spring has sprung
The grass is ris
I wonder where the birdie is
The grass is ris
I wonder where the birdie is
The bird is on the wing they say
but that's absurd
but that's absurd
The wing is on the bird!
I had the most wonderful day today with Dad and Mum to celebrate Father's Day. I remember, as a child, this poem being told every September 1 to welcome Spring.
Often attributed to Spike Milligan, my limited google research indicates it to be far older and perhaps written by the 19th Century Norwegian playwright and poet, Henrik Ibsen.
I just love it. And Dad.
